»Organic Universe«

»Organic Universe« is the second full length album of The New Alchemy; the sounding output for multi-faced artist Per Svensson, born in Gothenburg in 1965, now based in the beautiful south-west of Sweden. Svensson is comfortably moving between sound art and noise experiments, poetry, psych-rock, installation- and conceptual art. The borders are cloudy and unimportant. This is all as important to the world you are to know as The New Alchemy.

Per Svensson was since the very early 80’s involved in the Gothenburg punk scene and bands like Rabies and also in the legendary society Garageligan. He has slowly created an artistic language of his own and since 1987 he is earning his living as an artist. Active in the circuit surrounding the Radium organisation he was inspired by people like CM von Hausswolff, Freddie Wadling, Jean-Louis Huhta and Leif Elggren. Soon – Svensson’s work was picked up by Elggren’s label Firework Editions which has been a very important base for his alchemical experiments in sound and image.

»Organic Universe« is alchemic rock with an honest power. There’s a lot of nerve, and Svensson is allowing time to evolve the songs… There’s echoes of rock music from the 60’s and on. And echoes of mysticism, alchemy and occultism – colouring the music and the lyrics of course.

Timeless music. But also simply, a fucking good rock album from The New Alchemy

»Konstnären/musikern/mångsysslaren Per Svenssons förra New Alchemy-platta var en dokumentation med inspelningar från olika tidsperioder. Det är mindre ljudkonst och noise på nya skivan, men även här hör jag ekon av Iggy Pop och Lou Reed. Långsam psykedelisk och primitiv rock med stark suggestionskraft. Omfångsrik skiva, nästan 70 minuter, med texter som täcker många ämnen. Ebbot Lundberg spelar autoharp på en låt, annars gör Svensson allt själv, imponerande, liksom helheten, visionen, konsekvensen.«

»A total of 22 tracks, or rather pieces, make up this record with field recordings, loops, bass, drums, guitars, vocals and metal grinders just some of the tools in Svensson's wide and varied arsenal, but all of this is just incidental to what are effectively some great minimal avant/psych-rock tunes that sit somewhere between The Stooges and
