Contemporary Punk Unit
»Can You Compute?«

Cat. No. iDEAL011 Year 2003 Format CD
Info 1000 copies.

Contemporary Punk Unit is Joel Brindefalk, an electronic composer who lives in Karlskrona in the south-east of Sweden. He has been composing music since the late 80's when he was first attracted to stuff like Die Form and Skinny Puppy. Soon after this he discovered both electro acoustic experiments like the one's by Rune Lindblad and the world of dub through Lee Perry. You might say C.P.U. is the natural bastard child of these inspirational sources. With the mentality of dub he speaks the language of hi-tech electronics. Now, 2006, C.P.U. is focusing on his noisier sides. Most recently on cassettes on White Tapes in Brooklyn, NYC and UFO Mongo, Sweden. We hope he will get his head together long enough to make us the album we have waited for since 2003.

Opinions

« - Petter Ottoson, Fat Bankroll

»The punk comes with the attitude and the aesthetic. For once, here is a cd where the cover art actually sounds like the music, and the music looks like the cover art. So, if you think you would fancy something sounding like this trashy, pixelated electro-blob in the basic colours red, yellow and black, well, check this out then. «
- Jonas Andersson, Absorb.org
